Transfers often feel like the lottery.

Every now and then you’ll win big. Just see the transfers of Jamie Vardy, N’Golo Kante and Riyad Mahrez to name a few.

Most of the time though, it’s nothing groundbreaking and maybe even a waste of money. For a club like Leicester City, they can’t afford to waste anything.

There was lots of anger from Leicester fans when Tom Cannon’s sale to Sheffield United went through as many felt he deserved a chance.

But, it appears Ruud van Nistelrooy and co hit the jackpot less than six months after his departure.

Tom Cannon has struggled at Sheffield United

Cannon was a player in demand across the Championship, but in the end it was the Blades who won the race for his signature.

However, Sheffield United fans are impatient with Cannon already, who is still yet to find the back of the net.

The Republic of Ireland international has played eight times in all competitions, failing to score in any and only grabbing one assist.

Patson Daka and Jamie Vardy’s form may not be overly inspiring right now, but it’s fair to say that Cannon wouldn’t have been the answer to Leicester’s prayers based on the evidence.

What has Chris Wilder said about Tom Cannon’s form?

Leicester and Sheffield United seem to have a good relationship when it comes to exchanging players.

Cannon is one of three players to have links to Leicester that have played at Bramall Lane. Hamza Choudhury is on loan there at the moment and Harry Souttar was a regular starter until injury cut his spell short.

The form of their marquee addition will be a worry for all, but Wilder revealed in February that he was opting to remain positive.

He told BBC Radio Sheffield’s Blades Heaven podcast: “There’s more to come from him, we have to be patient, we can’t rush. Everybody wants instant [success], but we know what he gives to the team and his team-mates know.”
