Leicester City have sold Tom Cannon to Sheffield United on January 23rd and fans are not happy.

Leicester City made the decision to recall Tom Cannon from Stoke City earlier this month.

With nine goals to his name, the striker was in top form and fans likely hoped he would play a role for them in the second half of 2024/25.

However, it has now been confirmed on Thursday evening that Cannon has joined Sheffield United in a £10m deal.

Prior to the news being announced on January 23rd, Leicester fans had branded Cannon’s move a ‘disgrace’.

And now it’s been made official, it is fair to say that their ire toward their own club has only increased.

Leicester City fans furious as Tom Cannon joins Sheffield United

Leicester fans are already growing tired of their board, with negative Jon Rudkin chants heard loud and clear against Fulham over the weekend and earlier this season versus Brentford.

Now, following the news of Cannon’s exit, many supporters have taken to social media to react and they are not happy, with several directing their anger at the board.

One fan wrote: “Shocking to let him go…” While a second added: “

A third sarcastically commented: “The board are amazing,” with a fourth adding: “Absolutely shocking decision to let him leave!”

“Awful from the board,” a fifth Leicester City supporter stated on X/Twitter.

A sixth added: “Feels short-sighted. Unless we spend big this transfer window we are absolutely down and he would have been decent next season.”

A seventh stated: “This club is an absolute joke. We are pretty certain to get relegated and we had the perfect striker. I doubt Jamie will stay another season. And Daka is shocking no matter what league. So we now have to spend £15mil plus on another striker, when it could’ve been him.”

Tom Cannon speaks out after leaving Leicester City

The number nine could make his Sheffield United debut this weekend when they face off with Hull City in a Championship clash.

After leaving Leicester, Cannon has sent his first message, in which he praised new manager Chris Wilder.

He said: “I am absolutely delighted to finally get it all done. To be a Sheffield United player, it is just amazing to get it over the line and I am just looking forward to stepping out at Bramall Lane and getting going.

“Everybody knows the size of the club, and the fanbase. I am just delighted to be here and after speaking to the manager, I heard nothing but good words about the place. I am just looking forward to it.

“He (Chris Wilder) just filled me with a lot of confidence which is always nice from a manager. He’s just said nothing but good things about the club and the direction he wants to take it moving forward. It was something I really wanted to be a part of.”
