Leicester City’s transfer window is heating up as we approach the midway stage.

The Foxes are about to complete the signing of Woyo Coulibaly, who is joining in a £3m switch from Parma.

The 25-year-old is set to provide competition for James Justin after his below-par performances this season.

Leicester are now expected to turn their focus towards a left-sided centre-back, a winger and perhaps a centre-forward.

Though, those plans may have changed as City have just taken the decision to recall one of their loan players.

Leicester recall Tom Cannon

For months, Leicester fans have been urging the club to recall Tom Cannon from his season-long loan at Stoke City.

Cannon has been in prolific form for the Championship side, netting 11 times in 25 appearances, which has seen him attract interest from a number of promotion challenges.

The deadline to cut short his loan was at midnight on Wednesday the 15th of January and Leicester have just announced that they’ve activated his recall option.

A club statement read: “Striker Tom Cannon has returned to Leicester City after being recalled from his loan spell with Sky Bet Championship side Stoke City.

“The 22-year-old Republic of Ireland international scored 11 times in 25 appearances for the Potters during his time at the Bet 365 Stadium, including four goals in a 6-1 win over Portsmouth.”

Leicester could be about to sell Cannon to Sunderland

Leicester City News reported this morning that Sunderland are ready to table a £13m bid to sign Cannon.

The deal would initially be a loan with an obligation to buy if the Black Cats gain promotion to the Premier League.

Sunderland are currently two points off the automatic promotion spots and sit well-placed in the playoff positions, so there’s certainly a fair chance of that transpiring.

At this stage, it seems unlikely the ‘sensational’ Cannon will stay, as the club seem keen to use his funds to bring in reinforcements in different areas.
