Leicester City are looking to add further reinforcements to their squad in the 2025 January transfer window.

Leicester City signed Woyo Coulibaly from Parma last week but aside from the right-back, it’s been pretty slow going at the King Power Stadium.

Ruud van Nistelrooy has grown frustrated this month amid the club’s lack of transfer activity despite promises when he joined that funds would be available.

The Foxes have never been the best at recruiting players, however, and there is still time for more additions to be made.

Reports earlier this week claimed Leicester want to strengthen in three positions – centre-forward, on the wing and centre-back.

Now, a player has been linked who should, hopefully, sure up the club’s dismal backline. According to claims emerging in Italy, Leicester want to sign Strahinja Pavlovic from AC Milan.

Leicester City target Strahinja Pavlovic dominated Lamine Yamal

The 23-year-old – currently earning £50,000-a-week as per Capology – only joined AC Milan from RB Salzburg in July 2024 but could be on the move again.

The centre-back has made 15 appearances for the Italian outfit so far this term, scoring one goal.

Pavlovic is also an established Serbia international, notching 43 appearances since his debut in 2020.

He has shone for his country and was especially impressive in one game earlier this campaign.

On September 5th, 2024, Serbia played host to Spain in a UEFA Nations League clash, earning a 0-0 draw.

Pavlovic was a key reason why the Eagles were able to keep Spain quiet and was praised heavily at the time for his display and, in particular, how he shut down star man, Lamine Yamal.

As per Sempre Milan, various outlets highlighted his brilliant display on the night including Corriere dello Sport, who mentioned how he ‘managed to limit Yamal’s incursions’ during the game.

Ruud van Nistelrooy will need Strahinja Pavlovic to step up at Leicester

Should he indeed sign, Pavlovic will have a lot of pressure on him given how bad the Foxes’ defence currently is.

Speculation around Van Nistelrooy’s Leicester future has begun to grow with the team now on a seven-game losing streak.

A key reason for their struggles is the fact they have already conceded 48 goals in 22 Premier League matches this term.

Should they continue to leak goals at such an alarming rate, results will likely remain the same and Van Nistelrooy will surely be sacked.

But the signing of a quality centre-back like Pavlovic could be just what the Midlands outfit needs to turn their fortunes around and keep Ruud in a job.
