Leicester City are set to sanction the sale of Tom Cannon to Sheffield United in the January transfer window.

The Foxes have struggled for goals in recent weeks but that isn’t going to stop them from selling Tom Cannon this month.

Leicester City recalled Tom Cannon in January after he shone while on loan in the Championship with Stoke City.

He scored nine goals for the midtable side, playing some of the best football of his career to date.

As a result, Leicester fans sent a Cannon message to Ruud van Nistelrooy, urging the Dutchman to give the forward a chance in the first team.

However, Sheffield United are set to sign Cannon this month instead, leaving the Foxes with limited options up front.

How much Leicester City will pay Everton after Tom Cannon transfer

One positive from the sale of a really promising talent is that Leicester are going to get a welcome cash injection.

And now, The Athletic have shared an insight into the fee and how much the Foxes will have to pay Everton.

The 22-year-old moved to the King Power from the Toffees in 2023, with the Merseyside outfit inserting a sell-on clause into the sale.

It will see Everton due a cut of any profit Leicester make on their £10m sale, with The Athletic believing that figure to be £650,000.

The Midlands outfit initially paid £7.5m for Cannon, leaving them with £1.85m profit from the transfer to Sheffield United.

How will Leicester City spend Tom Cannon money

Taking away Everton’s £650,000 fee, Leicester still have over £9m to play with from his sale.

It remains to be seen if all that money will be spent on players, but it’s clear something needs to happen on the transfer front very soon.

Van Nistelrooy has grown unhappy amid the Foxes’ lack of activity in the market over the winter.

However, Leicester still want to sign three players before the deadline on February 3rd, with a striker, winger, and centre-back all thought to be positions being looked at.
