Mads Hermansen has already outlined future goals amid Man Utd links – he’ll struggle to achieve them at Leicester

Mads Hermansen has been a revelation since making the move to Leicester City but is now the subject of transfer interest.

Mads Hermansen joined Leicester City from Danish outfit Bröndby IF in the summer of 2023.

He made 44 Championship appearances during the Foxes’ promotion-winning campaign but has taken his game to another level this season.

Prior to his injury, Hermansen was outperforming every Premier League player in one key area in 2024/25.

This comes despite the fact Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side, as a whole, are greatly underperforming this term.

Leicester fans have been wowed by Hermansen during the first half of the current campaign as well but the 24-year-old is now the subject of transfer interest.

Chelsea were linked with Hermansen during the 2024 summer transfer window following Enzo Maresca’s arrival.

No move came to pass but the Dane is still attracting interest from elsewhere in the Premier League this season.

It was reported this week that Manchester United have scouted Hermansen, with the shot-stopper potentially available for around £40m.

Leicester fans are no doubt desperate to keep their numbe-one but when speaking in September 2024, Hermansen revealed his future goals, explaining how now he’s in the Premier League, he wants to ‘achieve something and be ambitious’, as per iNews.

He said: “It was never my ambition to play in the Premier League.

“But it was a dream. I’m not sure I ever thought I could make it this far. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve been dreaming of getting to this level. Now that I’m here I would like to achieve something and be ambitious.”

Given Leicester are 19th in the Premier League and well on course to be relegated this season, it seems obvious that if the goalkeeper wants to achieve something, he will have to seek a new challenge elsewhere.

Mads Hermansen injury update ahead of QPR

Leicester are back in FA Cup action this weekend, taking on Queens Park Rangers in a 2pm kick-off on Saturday.

The 24-year-old is not expected to feature in the tie, however, with a groin injury keeping him out of the Foxes’ last four matches.

Van Nistelrooy provided a Hermansen injury update this week, confirming he’s still weeks away from a return.

He said: “On Mads, there’s no update. He’ll be out for a bit longer. That won’t change over the coming weeks.”
