Ruud van Nistelrooy’s tenure as Leicester City manager has only been known for the wrong reasons so far.
Van Nistelrooy has seen Leicester plummet down the table and the Foxes are 15 points behind 17th placed Wolverhampton Wanderers with only seven games of the season remaining.
In fact, the Dutchman has accumulated less points than Steve Cooper, despite taking charge of eight more Premier League games.
It’s hard to find many things the Leicester manager has done right, but, there can be one decision he’s made that appears to have been the correct decision.

Tom Cannon continues to struggle at Sheffield United
As we all know, goals are a problem at Leicester.
No home league goal since 8 December 2024 and no goals in all competitions since 7 February 2025 have been one of the many things attributed to the Foxes’ downfall.
Despite the woes in front of goal, Van Nistelrooy opted to sell striker Tom Cannon to Sheffield United on deadline day.

Cannon had been impressing on loan at Stoke City and fans wanted him to return to the King Power Stadium.
Those pleas were ignored and eventually, the 22-year-old departed for £10m, sparking anger from Leicester fans.
However, that move appears to have been a fruitful one as the forward continues to struggle at Bramall Lane.
In the 11 games he’s played for the Blades, Cannon still hasn’t found the back of the net and only has one assist.

Jamie Vardy and Patson Daka have also both failed to find the back of the net in that time, but is fair to say that Cannon was never going to be the solution as the stats don’t lie.
Leicester have been told which striker is the perfect signing in the summer
As preparation for the Championship campaign begins next season, one thing that Leicester must address is the striker position.
One of Vardy and Daka, or both, could leave in the summer and any replacement will cost a pretty penny.
Out of all the options, Josh Sargent of Norwich City could be an option.
James Allcott said Sargent is the ‘bagsman’ the Foxes need who could help propel them back to the top flight and if Leicester do go down, they would be one of the favourites for promotion, making them an attractive proposition.
