Leicester City could soon appoint their third different manager in just a year once the 2024/25 campaign draws to a close.
Ruud van Nistelrooy’s tenure in charge of the Foxes couldn’t have gone much worse, with Leicester sitting in 19th place and 15 points adrift of safety.
Leicester’s 3-0 defeat to Newcastle on Monday night saw them create more unwanted Premier League history, going eight games in a row without scoring and losing each one.
It’s been a disastrous five months in charge for the Dutchman and he should be replaced in the coming months as Liam Rosenior is on Leicester’s radar along with several others, including Russell Martin.
Rosenior is doing a stellar job at Strasbourg in Ligue 1 as the French side are in fourth positon and three points adrift of second place Marseille.
So, with links to the Englishman refusing to go away, here are three Leicester players who would flourish under his guidance.

Harry Winks
During his time at Hull City, Liam Rosenior played a possession-orientated style of football with Jean Michael Seri at the base of midfield.
Rosenior led the Tigers to a seventh-place finish in his final campaign in charge but was surprisingly sacked by Acun Ilicali in May 2024, leaving the footballing world in a state of shock.
But just as Seri anchored the ship in the middle of the park by dictating proceedings, midfielder Harry Winks could do a similar job.
The deep-lying playmaker has struggled to nail down a starting spot under Van Nistelrooy as he prefers duo of Wilfred Ndidi and Boubakaray Soumare.
However, in a style that promotes lots of possession, Winks would perhaps thrive under Rosenior, just as he did when Enzo Maresca was manager.
Stephy Mavididi
Stephy Mavididi has gone from being on top of the world to hitting rock bottom this term.
The 26-year-old, formerly of Arsenal, fired Leicester to the Championship title in 2024 with 12 goals and six assists in the league.
Mavididi’s partnership with Abdul Fatawu was unplayable in the second tier and the Frenchman terrorised defences with his pace.
Since then, he’s started 14 times in the Premier League, though most of his appearances came under Steve Cooper, with Van Nistelrooy choosing the likes of Jordan Ayew over him.
He needs an exciting manager to come into the King Power Stadium and give him some much-needed confidence. Rosenior did that with Jaden Philogene at Hull City, and he could do similar with Mavididi.
Ben Nelson
An overhaul of Leicester’s squad will be completed during the summer, including lots of surgery in defence.
It’s possible that each of Jannik Vestergaard, Caleb Okoli and Wout Faes could all move on, leaving the Foxes down to the bare bones.
Indeed, with limited quality options in defence, Ben Nelson could return from his loan at Oxford United and instantly become a regular starter, especially with Rosenior at the helm.
The former Hull boss likes his defenders to be comfortable on the ball and Nelson – who has a ‘big future’ ahead of him – is brilliant at distributing the ball from the back.
So, with the prospect of Rosenior taking over at the King Power, the 21-year-old could flourish after impressing in the Championship with Oxford.
