Steve Cooper has emerged as an option to potentially take up a role as Middlesbrough manager.
Leicester City sacked Steve Cooper in November 2024 following a run of just two wins in 12 Premier League matches.
Ruud van Nistelrooy is now heading things up at the King Power Stadium, though things haven’t exactly worked out for the Dutchman either.
The Foxes are very much in danger of suffering relegation to the Championship and if that does happen, there’s a chance they could be going head-to-head with their former coach next term.
This comes amid reports claiming Cooper was in contention to become Middlesbrough manager after Michael Carrick’s recent struggles.
Boro are on a dire run of form and have slipped down to 11th in the Championship as a result.

Steve Cooper could poach Leicester City gem
Middlesbrough will stick with Carrick for now despite the poor form of the Teessiders but if things don’t turn around soon, owner Steve Gibson could be looking to make a change.
Should that happen, Cooper appears to be one of the names who may be in line to step up at the Riverside Stadium going forward.
If he does move to the North East, the manager may look to former club Leicester to strengthen Boro in the 2025 summer transfer window.
One of the weakest areas of Middlesbrough’s team right now is central midfield with a lack of quality depth, Jonny Howson likely in the final year of his career, and Dan Barlaser underperforming.
In turn, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Cooper return to Leicester to try and snap up Michael Golding, who he brought to the King Power last year in a deal worth around £4m, according to BBC Sport.

Why Michael Golding could be open to leaving Leicester City
The midfielder joined from Chelsea and still appears to have a bright future in the game if he can earn more minutes.
Golding explained why he joined Leicester over the summer, stating that he was ‘really looking forward to making leaps and bounds in my career’.
So far, however, that simply hasn’t happened, with the teenager yet to make his senior debut or even be named on the bench for a Premier League fixture.
If that continues, Golding could well be open to moving on in the summer transfer window.
