Leicester City are embroiled in a relegation battle at the bottom of the Premier League table, and that is perhaps a position they expected to be once the November international break rolled around.
Following promotion from the Championship last term as title winners, Leicester’s first key decision was replacing the outgoing Enzo Maresca with the correct manager.
Ex-Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper was the man they chose to succeed the Italian and it’s an appointment that hasn’t gone down well since.
Leicester fans wanted Cooper sacked after their 3-0 defeat to Manchester United, leaving them three points above the relegation zone.
The Foxes looked disjointed and unbalanced throughout that match, which has been a common theme during his short tenure.
With that said, here are three reasons why sacking Cooper right now could save their season.

The international break is the perfect time
Leicester have entered the international break on a four-match winless run in all competitions but it isn’t the results that have worried supporters the most, it’s the performances.

Cooper’s side have been torn apart easily in defence and offered very little in attack. Therefore, if such a narrative carries on, they could be plunged deeper into trouble.
With 11 days between their next match – a home clash against Chelsea – Leicester would have enough time to find a replacement if they pulled the trigger this week.
It would also give the new manager time to prepare his side for a hectic Christmas schedule.

Leicester could avoid Brendan Rodgers 2022/23 mistake
The last time Leicester were relegated from the Premier League in 2022/23, Brendan Rodgers was in charge for most of the campaign.
Rodgers had previously enjoyed a successful period with the club, guiding the Foxes to an FA Cup triumph over Chelsea in 2021 while assembling a talented squad.
All of his good work in the previous years was unravelled in his final season, though, as Leicester battled against relegation after suffering multiple injuries to their key players and eventually fell through the trapdoor.
The owners sacked Rodgers at the start of April, leaving Dean Smith limited time to salvage their Premier League status.
If they had sacked him sooner, perhaps they would have remained in the top flight and Leicester must use their mistake from that season by sacking Cooper while there is plenty of time to pull clear of danger.
Leicester could hire a huge upgrade on Cooper
Cooper does possess survival credentials, having kept Forest up in their first season back in the top flight.
That said, it appears the former England under-17s manager has lost the support of the fans and that is a recipe for a manager’s downfall.
While there are some big names that Leicester could hire such as David Moyes and Graham Potter, perhaps even Ruud van Nistelrooy, they should quickly relieve Cooper of his duties.
There are also other insecure jobs in the Premier League, namely Gary O’Neil’s position at Wolves, and sacking Cooper now could see them hire a huge upgrade before another side swoops in.
