The Leicester City attacker will be hoping to reclaim a starting spot in the first-team.
Steve Cooper’s first pre-season in charge of Leicester City has certainly been a difficult one, with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s earlier move to Chelsea undoubtedly being the biggest blow to the 2024/25 Premier League campaign’s plans.
Leicester City looked to replace him with firepower, with Juventus forward Matias Soule heavily linked with a move to the King Power, however the Argentinian opted for a move to Serie A side Roma.
Despite the attacking arrivals of Issahaku Fatawu and Bobby De Cordova-Reid, options up-top still look rather light for Cooper.
Now, veteran striker Jamie Vardy has suffered an injury scare, although looks likely to return ahead of the conclusion of pre-season.
Despite the likelihood that Vardy will return prior to Leicester City’s opening game of the 2024/25 Premier League campaign, Cooper must be wary that at 37-years-old, the former Premier League winner may not be able to play regularly at such a high standard, which as a result could see the resurgence of one striker option.

Leicester City striker Patson Daka has a chance at redemption this season
As a result of Vardy’s on-going injury issue, as well as the Foxes currently struggling in the summer transfer window, they may look towards Patson Daka to step up at Premier League level this season.
Since his arrival in 2021, the Zambian international has been in-and-out of the starting 11, with him being unable to tie down a regular spot in the team.
However, he has shown quality in doses throughout his Foxes career, tallying 16 goal contributions in his 53 Premier League appearances and being labelled as ‘very good’ by former Foxes manager Brendan Rodgers, per Goal.

Patson Daka has the ability to step up at Premier League level
There have been various concerns surrounding Daka throughout his spell at Leicester City, particularly around his finishing ability.
Some may suggest that his seven goals last season in the Championship in 15 starts is rather flattering, however he still showed his ability after a stagnant start to the campaign and not getting his first start until December.
He may not be quite up to the standard of Vardy at his prime, but Daka could very well thrive if given the gametime.
Confidence for the Zambian could be a factor, with it being clear that he had incredible goal scoring ability showcased in the Austrian Bundesliga, scoring 54 in 82 goals.
Cooper can easily unearth a gem in Daka if the former Nottingham Forest manager nurtures his talent correctly, something that could feel like a new signing if he is able to reach the peak of his powers.
