Leicester City are looking to sign a former Manchester United striker who Erik ten Hag was a fan of.
After securing promotion to the Premier League, Leicester City have made a number of changes on and off the field.
Steve Cooper has replaced Enzo Maresca in the dugout at the King Power Stadium, while several first-team players have left the club, including Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
The midfielder’s transfer to Chelsea is the most notable loss, with Cooper eager for Leicester to replace Dewsbury-Hall this summer.
Dewsbury-Hall scored 12 and assisted 15 in 2023/24, with his absence leaving a big hole in the Midlands outfit’s attack.
Kelechi Iheanacho has also departed on a free transfer, recently signing for Sevilla.
As a result, Leicester now have just two senior strikers on their books, one of which is 37-year-old Jamie Vardy.
So, it is not too surprising to see it reported that Leicester want to strengthen in the centre-forward department in the remainder of this window.

Leicester to rival Ajax for former Manchester United striker
Leicester have bid for Crystal Palace’s Jordan Ayew, who could be available for cheap due to his contract situation.
Cooper also has a clear run at Elye Wahi, after West Ham turned their attention away from the RC Lens striker.
Now, a fresh name has been linked with a move to the 2023/24 Championship winners.
The player in question is Wout Weghorst, who is currently on the books of recently relegated Burnley.
Journalist Yunus Emre Sel via Twitter/X claims that Turksish side Trabzonspor have shown an interest in the player.
However, European powerhouse Ajax and Leicester are also in talks with the 31-year-old over a move.
Can Wout Weghorst improve Leicester City attack
As mentioned above, recent departures from the club have weakened Leicester’s attacking threat going into 2024/25.
But Weghorst could be the key to Cooper improving his side in the final third.
The Dutchman shone at Euro 2024 with the Netherlands and despite being 31, remains a Premier League-quality striker.
Weghosrt scored seven and assisted three in 28 Bundesliga games while on loan at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim in 2023/24.
Prior to that, he spent the second half of 2022/23 on loan in the Premier League with Manchester United.
Manager Erik ten Hag was full of praise for the forward, labelling him ‘very good’, as per United’s official website.
Ten Hag also praised Weghorst’s intelligence and his ability to dominate in the air. These traits could be very useful for Leicester.
Vardy and Patson Daka are well known for their blistering pace, so having someone like Weghorst who can win the first ball and play his striking partner through could help Leicester break down defences in the coming campaign.
