Leicester City are firming up their interest in a Premier League attacker who has made 274 appearances in the competition.

Following their promotion to the Premier League, Leicester City have been revamping their squad ahead of the upcoming campaign.

Steve Cooper has replaced Enzo Maresca in the dugout at the King Power Stadium, while Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall followed the Argentine to Chelsea.

This has seen Leicester look to strengthen in the middle of the pitch. Arthur Melo of Juventus has been linked, while Matias Soule is believed to be a target of Leicester.

Elsewhere, the departure of Kelechi Iheanacho means Leicester may need to sign another striker in the current window.

Leicester want to strengthen in four areas this summer, with a centre-forward named as one of the positions.

Now, a potential target for this role has been linked with a move to the Midlands.

Leicester City bid for Crystal Palace forward Jordan Ayew

Leicester are aiming to stave off relegation in 2024/25 and will need some experienced hands to help them do this.

One player who could help Cooper and co. achieve this is Crystal Palace forward, Jordan Ayew.

The pair briefly crossed paths in the summer of 2019 when Cooper joined Swansea City and Ayew was sold to Palace.

But they could now work together properly in the upcoming season following an update from Alan Nixon on his Patreon.

Nixon reports that Leicester are making a firm bid for the veteran striker, who may struggle for minutes under Oliver Glasner in 2024/25.

Ayew, who is in the final year of his contract at Selhurst Park, is 32 years of age and has notched 274 Premier League appearances to date.

The Ghanaian joined Palace on a free transfer, with Nixon claiming this means Leicester may not need to make too high a bid to sign him.

Will Jordan Ayew improve Leicester City attack

Leicester finished 2023/24 with 89 Championship goals – the second-most in the division behind Ipswich Town.

However, the Foxes’ attacking threat has taken something of a hit over the last month or so.

Iheanacho, who scored six and assisted three, has now left the club on a free transfer.

Dewsbury-Hall was Leicester’s third-top scorer with 12 and provided the most assists last term (15).

In turn, Cooper is currently relying on a 37-year-old Jamie Vardy and an out-of-form Patson Daka to provide the majority of Leicester’s goals in the upcoming season.

Given Vardy’s age, he is unlikely to be able to complete a full 38-game campaign and Daka is not good enough to be a regular number nine in the top flight.

However, while Ayew may be available for cheap and has a plethora of Premier League experience, he is probably not the best signing for the Foxes.

Ayew has just 37 league goals in 274 outings and scored just four times for the Eagles in 2023/24.
