‘Good move’… Leicester City fans have a lot to say as deadline day transfer confirmed

Leicester City announced a transfer on deadline day and fans have reacted to the news in interesting fashion.

The Foxes completed the signing of Woyo Coulibably from Serie A side Parma earlier in the window.

He is adding much-needed competition at right-back versus James Justin but it’s been pretty quiet since that move.

On the exit front, meanwhile, Leicester fans were furious when Tom Cannon joined Sheffield United in January.

The striker was recalled following a prolific spell with Stoke City and despite Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side lacking options up top, they allowed him to depart permanently.

Now, another player has left the club on deadline day with Will Alves moving to Cardiff City.

Leicester City fans react as Will Alves joins Cardiff City

Leicester confirmed the news via X/Twitter and there was no mention of an option to buy in the deal, which runs until the end of 2024/25.

As was to be expected given the club’s woes on the transfer front this season, fan reaction to the news has been mixed.

One fan wrote: “Good move for his progression but we’re weakening our squad.”

A second replied: “He wasn’t gonna get any opportunities anyways. We need to bring in some experienced players.”

A third demanded: “Announce new signing or announce relegation.”

Another Leicester supporter stated: “Class more creativity gone,” while a fifth wrote: “Now a shootout between us, Wolves and Ipswich for 17th. Not looking good!”

While a sixth sarcastically commented: “I love you, Rudkin. Please don’t sign anyone please, please, please! No point is there! We’re a fully well-organised fun progressing club, aren’t we?”

Will Alves first words since leaving Leicester City

The 19-year-old has made five senior appearances for Leicester, failing to score or assist.

He should see more playing time at Cardiff, however, and has now spoken out on the move.

Alves said: “I’m buzzing and really excited. It’s a big Club to come to and I’m excited for the challenge ahead.

“I’m a creative player and I like to cause the opposition problems. This is an important experience for me. I want to kick on now.”
