Another Jon Rudkin disaster as eight-figure Leicester City deal proven completely pointless by recent claim

Leicester City fans are expected to endure a very frustrating end to the 2025 winter transfer window it seems.

The Foxes headed into the January transfer window sat 19th in the Premier League table and struggling for form.

Leicester City have since climbed out of the bottom three with a win over Tottenham Hotspur but that should not paper over the obvious cracks in Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side.

It seemed clear that a big winter window was needed if the Midlands outfit were to mount a proper survival push.

However, with less than four days of the transfer window remaining, they have signed just one player.

To make matters worse, a report this week claimed that Leicester will only sign loan players from abroad this month if more incomings are made.

Leicester City decision to sell Tom Cannon was pointless

Getting a player in on loan isn’t a negative in and of itself, but it does beg the question, why on earth was Tom Cannon sold?

Leicester fans were furious when Cannon joined Sheffield United after being recalled to the King Power following an excellent spell with Stoke City.

Fan ire may have dissipated somewhat last week when Van Nistelrooy suggested Leicester would use the Cannon transfer fee to sign players.

The Blades paid around £10m to Leicester, handing them a tidy boost to their transfer funds.

But now it’s emerged that loan additions will only be made this month, supporters must be baffled at the decision to allow Cannon to leave permanently.

Leicester fans have hit out Jon Rudkin multiple times already this term amid his dire recruitment and with the winter window shaping up to be a pretty big failure on the incomings and outgoings front, anger toward the Leicester chief will only likely grow.

Who are Leicester City trying to sign

In an even bigger blow for fans, it doesn’t look as though a single new arrival is anywhere close to joining this month.

Leicester were linked with Kyle Walker-Peters earlier in the window and he’s now said to be available for around £8-9m – but the Foxes have already got a right-back through the door in Woyo Coulibaly.

Patrick Wimmer has been linked as well this week, but AC Milan and Juventus are also in the race for the winger.

Meanwhile, another striker could leave this month with Patson Daka tipped for an exit to ease PSR concerns.
