Leicester City return to Premier League action on Sunday afternoon against Tottenham Hotspur.
The Foxes began their 2024/25 season against Tottenham under Steve Cooper, securing a 1-1 draw on that occasion.
However, it’s fair to say that things have pretty much fallen off a cliff since that result.
Ruud van Nistelrooy has seen his Leicester City side drop down to 19th in the Premier League table.
They are on a seven-game winless run and look all but nailed-on to start 2025/26 back in the Championship.

| 20 | 22 | 1 | 3 | 18 | 15 | 50 | -35 | 6 |
As for Spurs, they have problems of their own and begin the weekend 15th in the top flight, amassing just 24 points from their opening 22 matches.

Ruud van Nistelrooy explains Tom Cannon sale before Leicester City face Tottenham
Ahead of the tie, Van Nistelrooy spoke to the media on Friday, January 24th.
The Dutchman discussed a number of topics in his presser, including the sale of Tom Cannon this week.
Cannon joined Sheffield United in a £10m deal, a transfer that left Leicester fans furious.
Now, Ruud has been asked, as per BBC Sport, about the transfer and if it will open the door for more arrivals this month.
He said: “We’re looking at options to strengthen the squad. The deal with Tom is part of that.
“I believe in the players we have now, but we’re looking for players to really strengthen the squad.
“We’re still in the process. Things change when players are leaving, like Tom. But it’s clear what are the possibilities and what are not.”

Ruud Van Nistelrooy on Leicester City transfer window
The 48-year-old was also quizzed on whether the first 24 days of the winter window have been wasted at Leicester.
The club have only signed one player and a second addition this month doesn’t appear close.
On Leicester’s January so far, he said: “It’s not wasted because we’re putting our attention into players we have currently to get the team improving. New players are a bonus.
“We have a right back, which we needed and we’ll see in the last week what can be done. If not, we carry on with this squad.”
