Leicester City are aiming to reinforce their forward line before the close of the 2025 winter transfer window.

The Foxes have had a very quiet transfer window so far with just one player signed in the first 30 days.

However, Ruud van Nistellrooy issued a Leicester City transfer update in his pre-Everton press conference on Thursday afternoon.

In it, he confirmed the club are still looking to get some deals over the line before the February 3rd deadline.

It has previously been reported that Leicester are targeting three positions; a centre-back, winger, and a striker.

All three make sense given the Foxes are weak defensively, have no decent cover for Jamie Vardy, and lost Abdul Fatawu to a long-term injury earlier in the campaign.

Leicester City in transfer battle for European winger

It was revealed earlier this week that Leicester will miss out on Jonathan Ikone to Como with the Frenchman, who was also a summer target, set to move in the winter.

Now though, shortly after Van Nistelrooy delivered his transfer update, the Midlands outfit have been linked with a new player.

According to a report from German outlet BILD, the relegation-threatened team are one of the clubs interested in a move for Wolfsburg winger, Patrick Wimmer.

Wimmer has a transfer value of around £10m but the Bundesliga side believe he is actually worth at least £20m.

As well as coming with a hefty price tag, the wide man is also garnering attention from two Italian clubs in the form of Juventus and AC Milan.

Everything Leicester City fans need to know about Patrick Wimmer

Born in Austria, Wimmer began his senior playing career with AFW Waidhofen in 2015 before moving to Germany six years later with Arminia Bielefeld.

He scored three and assisted 10 in 32 appearances across all competitions before he was snapped up by Wolfsburg in 2022.

The 23-year-old has made 63 appearances for the German team and has been particularly prolific this term, scoring one and assisting four in 16 league matches – one more than Bilal El Khannouss has managed in all competitions for Leicester.

Wimmer is a natural right winger so an obvious replacement for Fatawu. But he is incredibly versatile, able to operate as a striker, number 10, and on the opposite flank.
