Leicester City are facing competition from Manchester City to sign one of the hottest prospects in world football.

The Foxes are exploring every avenue possible to bring in new additions to the King Power Stadium as Leicester look to turn their season around.

A centre-back is the priority this window and Gary Lineker even admitted Leicester should target a defender following their latest defeat against Aston Villa.

Ligue 1 seems to be where a lot of the focus is as the likes of Chancel Mbemba and Lilian Brassier have been linked with the Foxes.

Another one of those defenders tearing it up in the French top flight has also been of interest to Leicester, but now it seems that they could be in a battle with Man City.

Leicester have been linked with Abdukodir Khusanov in recent weeks and have also been joined by Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur in wanting the Uzbekistan international,

No move has been made but they may now have to work really hard to get a deal done after Fabrizio Romano revealed that talks are underway with the Premier League champions and his club Lens.

Khusanov only joined Lens 18 months ago from Belarusian club Energetik-BGU Minsk for £100K so Lens are guaranteed to land a significant profit.

The centre-back has been a core member of Will Still’s side and Pep Guardiola has identified the youngster as the answer to Man City’s crisis season, as well as plug the gap in their defensive issues.

Ruud van Nistelrooy lays out Leicester City transfer plans

The transfer window brings out the best and worst of football fans as they await to see what signings their side can make.

For Leicester fans, defenders are the priority and after Foxes fans called out James Justin for his performance, the need for fresh additions has only intensified.

Ruud van Nistelrooy was far more coy on the topic and insisted that they are looking at improvements all over the pitch.

“We’re looking at the possibilities and when the possibility is right for the club, we are looking to take them,” he said.

“We’re looking in all areas, possibilities to strengthen, not necessarily in a certain position. Everywhere in the squad.”
