Leicester City reportedly make enquiry for MLS defender
According to the Daily Mail, Leicester have made an enquiry for MLS star Adilson Malanda.
The French centre-back, 23, is playing for Charlotte FC, where former Leicester manager Dean Smith is currently in charge.
Malanda is known for being a ‘quiet leader’ at the back and has been a first-team regular this season, playing 37 times in all competitions, scoring one goal.
He joined the MLS franchise in 2022 after starting his career at Nimes before joining Rodez in the lower leagues of the French division.
What have Charlotte FC said about Adilson Malanda?
Any fee for Malanda isn’t expected to be cheap given that the 23-year-signed a contract back last summer.
Upon signing his contract extension, Charlotte FC general manager Zoran Krneta singled out the star for his development and tipped him to have a huge future.
He said: “Since arriving in the summer of 2022, his quick progression from a young player with potential to key leader of our defense is a prime example of one of the development pathways we have created at this club. He is undoubtedly destined for a great career ahead.”
