Leicester fans will be excited about a January transfer window under Ruud van Nistelrooy as the Dutchman eyes improvements.

Van Nistelrooy will want to bring in a couple of new faces to his Leicester squad to help in the fight for Premier League survival.

Firstly, the fans want loanee Crystal Palace to recall loanee Odsonne Edouard after watching the Frenchman fail to be a quality back-up for Jamie Vardy.

The Foxes are also keen for improvements to be made to their defence. Leicester have conceded the third-most goals of any team in the top flight, and targeting a new full-back or centre-back is the preference.

Former Everton defender Ben Godfrey has been linked with Leicester as he’s currently out of favour in Atalanta, appearing just four times in all competitions.

Godfrey isn’t the only Englishman currently low down the pecking order at his club, with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall disappointed over his lack of playing time.

Enzo Maresca open to letting Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall leave Chelsea in 2025

Academy graduate Dewsbury-Hall helped fire Leicester to the Championship title last term with 12 goals and 14 assists in the second tier.

Supporters wanted him to continue his journey with Leicester in the Premier League but Chelsea signed Dewsbury-Hall for £30 million in the summer.

Enzo Maresca leaving for Stamford Bridge played a huge part in sealing a transfer, although it has not worked out.

The 26-year-old is yet to start in the top flight and has instead been used in the Conference League, scoring in Thursday’s 5-1 thrashing of Shamrock Rovers.

As a result, Leicester have been linked with Dewsbury-Hall and Maresca has now handed van Nistelrooy the green light to seal his return in 2025.

Speaking in the post-match press conference, the Italian hinted at the midfielder departing: “Unfortunately, I cannot say that (he is definitely going to stay), not about Kiernan, about all the squad, because when the transfer window is open, unfortunately, anything can happen,” Maresca said via The Athletic.

“So I’m not focused on January, the only thing I can say about Kiernan is that we are very happy in the way he’s working, we are very happy about his performance, and this is my thought about Kiernan.”

Dewsbury-Hall’s Chelsea stats

After being an integral focus at City, the academy graduate has been pushed down the pecking order at Chelsea, with the statistics reflecting his lack of involvement.

Leicester fans don’t want Dewsbury-Hall to return in January, despite being given the green light to sign him, and instead would rather see a focus on other positions.

Van Nistelrooy is well recovered in the midfield department; the resurgence of Boubakary Soumare and the arrival of Oliver Skipp leaves the Dutchman with quality options.

Dewsbury-Hall would be a luxury signing midway through the season and unfortunately, there are more pressing issues to resolve.
