With the January transfer window just around the corner, a clear plan of what could happen at Leicester City is beginning to take shape.

Leicester City lost 4-0 to Newcastle United in their last Premier League outing, seeing them drop dangerously close to the relegation zone.

The Foxes are now 17th in the division, only one point above Ipswich Town and one point adrift of 16th-place Everton, who have played one game less at the time of writing.

With meetings against Liverpool, Manchester City and Aston Villa all coming up, the chances of the Midlands outfit dropping into the bottom three are high.

In turn, Ruud van Nistelrooy will no doubt want to have a productive winter transfer window to give Leicester the best possible chance of beating the drop.

Leicester City told Odsonne Edouard transfer plan

Incomings are expected but there could be several January exits from Leicester once the window opens in a few weeks.

One player who now looks likely to leave the club in the next month is Odsonne Edouard, who joined the club on a season-long loan from Crystal Palace in late August.

Edouard has really struggled at Leicester and is still yet to find the back of the net in the Premier League this term.

Now, Mick Brown, who worked as Manchester United’s Chief Scout for eight years, has provided an update on Edouard when speaking to Football Insider.

The Eagles are aiming to move the striker – whom they signed for £14m according to Sky Sports – on permanently if his loan is cut short, which could well happen after he ‘failed to make an impact’ at the King Power.

Brown said: “I hear Palace would like to move him on permanently [if his loan is cut short].

“That would allow them to make some money from his sale which could be invested in the squad.

“But that will depend on whether there are any clubs out there who will be looking to sign him after he’s failed to make an impact for Leicester.

“They’ve been struggling for strikers and he can’t get in there, so you have to wonder what his level is.

“He’s gone on loan because there’s no place for him in their squad, they’ve already got Mateta and Eddie Nketiah there.”

Why Leicester City need Odsonee Edouard to leave

Edouard’s lack of goals is obviously not great and with Palace seemingly wanting to cash in, Leicester would be wise to send him back.

Should he indeed return to Selhurst Park in January, it will give Leicester a lot more options on the transfer front.

Right now, the number nine and Facundo Buonanotte are taking up the Foxes’ two Premier League loan slots.

But if Edouard has his deal cut short, Van Nistelrooy will be able to bring in another loan star from the English top flight next month.

The Leicester manager has already discussed the January transfer window and having an extra slot available to loan another player should help the Dutchman massively.
