The Portuguese midfielder is weighing up a move to the King Power amid ‘optimistic news’ on the players’ future.
Steve Cooper is continuing to bolster his midfield options ahead of the 2024/25 Premier League season.
Days after taking the job at the King Power Stadium, star midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall made it clear that he wished to play under former Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca at Chelsea, leaving a significant hole for Cooper to fill in the summer window.
However, he has made significant progress in looking for midfield targets, with Matt O’Riley from Celtic, as well as former Coventry City man Callum O’Hare being identified to potentially slot into the midfield.
Nigerian international Wilfred Ndidi is also set to sign a contract at Leicester City, giving Cooper even more security that he will have Premier League experience in his midfield.
They have also identified a Portuguese midfielder, who reportedly has an ‘uncertain’ future at his current club.

Leicester City linked with Benfica midfielder Florentino Luis
Cooper is looking to strengthen his midfield options with the potential signing of Benfica midfielder Florentino Luis, per Portuguese newspaper Jornal de Notícias.
A £26m tag has been quoted for the 24-year-old midfielder compared to Casemiro.
Premier League rivals Everton, Leicester City and Nottingham Forest reportedly ‘continue to follow’ the situation and are willing to buy the Portuguese U21 international, who is available as Benfica ‘does not close doors’ for offers to come in.
Luis, who has been labelled by his former Benfica boss Joao Tralhao as ‘amazing’, has 15 Champions League appearances to his name, including a starring role in Benfica’s 2022/23 squad that reached the quarter-final stages before being dumped out by Inter Milan.

What would Florentino Luis provide for Leicester City
Goals are the last thing to expect from the defensive-midfielder, who has found the back of the net just three times in 256 appearances across his career for club and country.
Although they play in a similar position, Luis will offer an alternative to what Harry Winks does in the midfield for Leicester City.
Luis thrives when put in a position to break up play, intercept and tackle, providing extra security to the back-line that he sits just in front of.
Like a N’Golo Kante 2.0, Luis will be able to work his socks off for Cooper’s side if he was brought in, and may be crucial in games and moments where the Foxes are up against the cosh, which is likely to happen in the Premier League.
It would be a shrewd piece of business for Cooper to bring in this sort of player that will provide his side with a fighting edge and giving the team a plan B when Winks in defensive-midfield isn’t working to the best of its ability.
