Leicester City have received transfer interest from Sunderland for one of their latest rising stars.

Leicester City have had an active summer transfer window so far both on and off the field.

Steve Cooper was brought to the King Power Stadium as a replacement for now Chelsea boss, Enzo Maresca.

Cooper has wasted little time in preparing his first-team squad for the 2024/25 Premier League campaign.

Four new signings have been made so far this summer and further additions could still be on the cards.

Leicester have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Arthur Melo after Everton distanced themselves from a move.

While the focus has been on incomings, though, there have been several exits in the Midlands this summer.

Kiernan Dewbsury-Hall has left Leicester for Chelsea, while Kelechi Iheanacho is receiving interest from a Championship League club after his contract expired last month.

Sunderland enquire about Leicester City player Ben Nelson

Now, another Leicester player could be on his way out of the club in the current window.

This comes with journalist Michael Graham reporting on X/Twitter that Sunderland have enquired about taking Ben Nelson on loan for 2024/25.

The move is not advanced at this stage, with a number of other Championship clubs also keen on the 20-year-old.

Nelson is a product of Leicester’s academy and previously earned high praise from Marseca when he was still in charge of the club, as per Leicester Live.

He said: “We know what kind of player Ben is. He will have a big future. It’s just how we manage him.

“It’s important when we give him the chance that he shows us that he’s ready and he shows us what kind of player he is. For sure, we’re going to give him more chances.”

Should Leicester City loan Ben Nelson to Sunderland

Nelson made his senior debut for the Foxes in 2023/24, going on to feature nine times in all competitions.

While the centre-back looked sharp during his limited appearances, Leicester’s promotion to the Premier League means the 20-year-old’s opportunities are likely to be even more limited next term.

Cooper’s team are well-stocked in the centre-back department at present with five senior options, including new signing Caleb Okoli.

As a result, Nelson would likely benefit from a loan move to the Championship to hand him some much-needed senior experience.
