Leicester named as suitor for 15-goal attacker who Arsenal sold last summer

Leicester City are out of the relegation zone after their 2-1 away win against Tottenham Hotspur on the weekend.

Ruud van Nistelrooy’s men came back from a goal down in the capital and showed immense grit and determination to see out the three points.

It ended their seven-game losing streak in the Premier League and there’s certainly a lot more optimism around the King Power stadium.

However, Van Nistelrooy is under no illusion that reinforcements are still needed before the window slams shut on February 3rd.

With that said, Leicester are now being linked to a striker on the continent.

Leicester linked to Mika Biereth

According to the Daily Mail, Leicester are thought to be a potential destination for Monaco striker Mika Biereth.

Arsenal sold the Danish frontman to Sturm Graz last summer and after netting 11 goals in 16 league outings, he’s again on the move.

Monaco wrapped up an £11m deal earlier this month and he’s already off the mark with the French club, scoring against Stade Rennais on the weekend.

Evidently, Leicester won’t be landing his signature this month or perhaps even in the summer, but it’s certainly a deal to watch in the future.

It wouldn’t at all be surprising if Biereth, who’s now scored 15 goals this term with two clubs, returned to the Premier League at some stage having enjoyed youth spells at the Gunners and Fulham.

Leicester should focus on signing a winger

Evidently, Leicester do need to sign a striker but it shouldn’t be an immediate priority with Jamie Vardy, Patson Daka and Odsonne Eduoard on the books.

With finances limited, City need to prioritise a winger because, at the moment, Van Nistelrooy’s side have next to no pace on the flanks.

With that said, it’s understood Leicester are looking at Cyriaque Irie, who is enjoying a productive campaign with Troyes in the French second division.

Though, RC Lens appear to be leading the race for his signature.
