‘Promising’ Manchester United gem open to January exit amid Leicester City interest

A pivotal month lies ahead for Leicester City.

Leicester are fighting for their Premier League status and if they were to suffer relegation, the EFL are waiting to impose punishments on the club.

So staying up is imperative for the future and as it stands, Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side are languishing in 19th after five straight defeats.

So January additions are certainly needed sooner rather than later and they can’t afford to fall behind their rivals Ipswich Town and Wolves, who have already brought in reinforcements themselves.

With that said, it’s just come to light that one of their rumoured targets is open to leaving Manchester United this month.

Leicester target Toby Collyer open to January exit

Leicester City have been linked with Toby Collyer this month, who is a very highly-rated young midfielder at Manchester United,.

Ruud van Nistelrooy admitted that he plans to use his contacts this window and it seems his United links will be explored.

The Manchester Evening News have now confirmed that Collyer is open to leaving the club and would even consider a switch to the Championship if a suitable offer arrives.

So the 20-year-old is clearly an attainable target for Leicester, though, they’d have to sign him on a permanent deal unless one of their loan players left.

Premier League rules state the club can’t have more than two domestic loanees and City already have Facundo Buonanotte and Odsonne Edouard, who have arrived from Brighton and Crystal Palace respectively.

Leicester should prioritise other areas

Whilst Collyer is clearly a talented and exciting young player, he simply isn’t the type of player Leicester need right now.

The Foxes are crying out for a wide player and a centre-back, so those two areas should be prioritised first and foremost.

Even a striker should be on the shortlist before a midfielder is considered, which makes the Collyer links hard to believe.

It’d be surprising if Leicester did move for the United youngster.
