Ruud van Nistelrooy has a long history with Manchester United that could now benefit Leicester City.

The Dutchman spent time at Old Trafford as a player before more recently taking up a coaching role with the Red Devils.

The former striker set a Premier League record while at Manchester United, though Jamie Vardy has since outdone Ruud van Nistelrooy on that front.

Ruud returned to Man Utd ahead of the 2024/25 season, acting as one of Erik ten Hag’s assistants.

When the former Ajax boss was sacked, Van Nistelrooy then took temporary charge of the Red Devils.

That stint included beating Leicester City in the Carabao Cup and the Premier League. He has now stepped into the dugout at the King Power Stadium but could return to Man Utd to strengthen the Foxes in the winter window.

Leicester City eye move for Manchester United gem Harry Amass

It was reported earlier this week that Leicester boss Van Nistelrooy wants to raid Manchester United.

The Dutchman was looking to secure two of the Red Devils’ players on loan, though no specific names were mentioned at the time.

Now, however, a fresh report from the Daily Mail has shed some light on one of the gems Leicester are targeting.

It’s said that Leicester are among the clubs looking at a deal for rising star, Harry Amass.

Amass has shown signs of promise during his short spell in Manchester but the Mail claims Ruben Amorim requires a specialist left-wing-back, which could prove an issue for the Leicester target.

What Leicester City fans need to know about Harry Amass

The 17-year-old joined Manchester United’s youth ranks in August 2023, signing from Watford.

He’s since played 36 times across various youth competitions, scoring one and providing seven assists.

Amass has been named on the bench five times for United’s senior team this term but is yet to make his debut.

The teenager is a natural left-back and has previously been compared to Luke Shaw by Danny Webber when he spoke to MUTV in August 2024.

He said: “He’s shown a lot of promise. I liken him to Luke Shaw, in his style, he’s not massive but he’s powerful enough, he’s using the ball really well, I’m excited.”
