Chelsea set to exploit one Leicester City player thanks to Manchester United blueprint

Leicester City could be on the end of yet another hammering when they face Chelsea this weekend.

Leicester City have been woeful defensively this season, having so far conceded the joint-third most goals in the Premier League.

This inability to keep clean sheets – just one managed in 11 games – has seen Steve Cooper’s side stuck in a relegation battle for much of the campaign to date.

Leicester face Chelsea on Saturday and know a defeat to the Blues could see them drop down to 18th in place of Crystal Palace.

Enzo Maresca returns to the King Power Stadium on November 23rd with his high-flying Chelsea team, who sit third in the table and boast one of the best attacks in the division.

As a former manager, Maresca should already have a good idea of Leicester’s biggest strengths and weaknesses, but Manchester United have given the West London outfit a clear blueprint for what they must do to hammer the Foxes.

Manchester United show Chelsea how to exploit Leicester City

The Red Devils have faced off with Cooper’s men twice in the last month, earning convincing victories on both occasions.

Manchester United beat Leicester City 5-2 in the Carabao Cup on October 30th.

This was followed by a 3-0 drubbing in the Premier League right before the November international break.

Now, some interesting stats have emerged regarding Leicester and Man Utd that should give Chelsea a clear idea of what they must do to beat Maresca’s former club.

Leicester have conceded nine goals from the right-hand side in open play this season, the most in the division.

In the Premier League meeting at Old Trafford, meanwhile, United attacked 54 percent down Leicester’s right, with the Foxes having conceded 195 shots in 2024/25 so far – only Brentford have faced more.

It is now obvious that Chelsea would be wise to focus the majority of their play down Leicester’s right and target James Justin.

Chelsea must target James Justin

The right-back has underperformed massively throughout 2024/25 and has cost Leicester plenty of goals.

Justin was terrorised by Man Utd in the 5-2 cup defeat late last month and as the stats show, is a key reason Leicester are conceding so much.

However, despite it being clear the 26-year-old needs to be dropped, Cooper continues to start Justin on a regular basis.

He has featured in all but one of Leicester’s league games this term and if he starts on Saturday, Chelsea will no doubt exploit Justine like so many other clubs have already done this season.
