Leicester City were unfortunate to lose 4-2 away against Arsenal.

Steve Cooper’s side were very close to grabbing an important point away at The Emirates as James Justin almost inspired an incredible comeback with a brilliantly taken brace.

It was highly unlikely, especially when Leicester City were two goals down at half time, that Cooper’s side would come away from the game with anything, especially after what has been a difficult start to the 2024/25 Premier League campaign from the former Nottingham Forest boss.

However, the Foxes were on track to complete the impossible and prevented the hosts from reaching the top of the Premier League after a brilliantly resolute defensive showing, particularly in the second half that saw Cooper’s defence bombarded with shots throughout, however two late goals for the hosts saw Leicester City just fall short.

After an incredible performance on the road for Cooper’s side, despite not being able to come away with any points, here is how we rate Leicester City’s performance against Arsenal.

Mads Hermansen

Looked to be shot of confidence in the first half as Arsenal were able to get a two-goal lead going into the break. Was able to fully turn around his game in the second half and made some crucial saves to deny Kai Havertz. 8/10.

James Justin

Looked shaky at times on the defensive side, with Martinelli particularly causing havoc against the full-back. On the attacking front, fronted a potential comeback after scoring a phenomenal brace. 9/10.

Caleb Okoli

Was often a liability defensively in the first half, however like his teammates put in a much improved performance in the second stanza. 7/10.

Wout Faes

Was very dependable at the back in both halves. Easily could have conceded more if Leicester City were without Faes. Did well to somewhat diminish the major threat of the Arsenal attack. 7/10.

Victor Kristiansen

Solid showing on the left flank, where he looked to get forward when given the opportunity, albeit moments to do so were more than limited. Didn’t put a foot wrong defensively. 6/10.

Harry Winks

Saw very little of the ball in the opening half of the game as Leicester City were up against the cosh. Very little of note in his performance. 6/10.

Oliver Skipp

Alongside Winks, was given very little chance to spray the ball in both halves. Was relied on defensively and did very little wrong. 6/10.

Wilfred Ndidi

Continues to look a threat from attacking-midfield. Set up Justin for his second of the game with a low cross that fell into the path of the full-back. Continued his defensive requirements when needed. 7/10.

Facundo Buonanotte

Looked electric down the right flank and caused plenty of havoc for the Arsenal defence when given the opportunity. Was surprising to see Cooper replace him when looking for a winner. 6/10.

Stephy Mavididi

Very little threat came through the left flank. Kept very quiet throughout the game. 5/10.

Jamie Vardy

Handed a yellow card following protests over a potential foul in Martinelli’s goal. The 37-year-old looked great physically and ran his socks off on the front line. Won the free kick in the build up to Justin’s first goal. 7/10.
