It’s a relegation six-pointer at the bottom of the Premier League table as Leicester City host Crystal Palace.

Ruud van Nistelrooy’s men have been on a miserable run in the competition with five straight Premier League defeats.

However, Leicester beat QPR 6-2 last time out to advance into the fourth round of the FA Cup, perhaps giving them much confidence.

Leicester discovered they didn’t breach PSR rules on Tuesday, meaning they will face no point deductions, which should hand them another boost heading into this game.

The Foxes are 19th in the table, just two points adrift of safety, while their opponents Palace are in 15th with just four wins this term.

Paul Merson has predicted Leicester to beat Palace on Wednesday night, and they must start getting points on the board.

Leicester City team news and injury updates

It’s been a difficult period for van Nistelrooy, who has faced troubles without some of his key Leicester stars.

First-choice goalkeeper Mads Hermansen is still sidelined with Wilfred Ndidi alongside long-term absentees Ricardo Pereira and Abdul Fatawu.

The Dutchman did supply a positive injury update on one of his defenders, though, with Jannik Vestergaard in contention to start after missing the FA Cup win over QPR.

Speaking in his press conference, van Nistelrooy said: “He’s part of team training today. We’re expecting he can be there on Wednesday.”

Jakub Stolarczyk will continue in goal in place of Hermansen, who continues to battle back from injury.

As for the defence, van Nistelrooy will find it hard to drop James Justin after he scored twice against QPR, and the Englishman should be joined by Conor Coady, the returning Vestergaard and Victor Kristiansen.

This means that, despite scoring a thunderbolt in the FA Cup, £15m man Wout Faes will be dropped for Vestergaard as van Nistelrooy has preferred the Dane.

Just ahead, the midfield duo of Boubakary Soumare and Harry Winks speaks for itself, although Winks made two errors leading to goals against QPR and was criticised by the fans.

Supporters were pleased Facundo Buonanotte was selected in the lineup last time out, and the Argentine playmaker will be joined by Bilal El Khannouss, Stephy Mavididi and Jamie Vardy.

Leicester City (4-2-3-1): Stolarczyk; Justin, Coady, Vestergaard, Kristiansen; Winks, Soumare; Buonanotte, El Khannouss, Mavididi; Vardy.
