Ruud van Nistelrooy wasn’t afraid to single out one Leicester City star who should’ve done a lot better for Manchester United’s opening goal.

Leicester entered the history books for the wrong reasons as the Foxes were beaten 3-0 by Man United.

Goals from Rasmus Hojlund, Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes have all but confirmed an immediate return to the Championship with nine games to play.

It was another toothless display all round as some Leicester fans vented frustrations at Jon Rudkin again, but there was one other that was called out.

Ruud van Nistelrooy calls out Leicester defender for Hojlund mistake

As is customary with Leicester this season, whenever a team or player is struggling for form, they will help them break their duck.

In this edition, it was Hojlund’s turn. Before kick off, the Denmark international hadn’t scored in 21 competitive appearances.

He broke that with a great finish into the bottom corner past his international teammate Mads Hermansen.

Hojlund was given the freedom of Leicester as he picked out his shot, all because Wout Faes failed to close him down and block the shot.

Van Nistelrooy highlighted this to the BBC on Match of the Day and called him out, saying: “I think if Wout Faes can come across to block Hojlund going to the keeper it would have been better. The second one falls for Garnacho, falls in front of his feet and he doesn’t think twice.”

Wout Faes stats vs Man United

Faes has been criticised all season and the Belgian once again disappointed in the heart of defence.

It’s a damning insight into Leicester’s problems that Faes is a regular starting XI – largely because there are no other viable options.

He was calamitous once again at the King Power Stadium and his error was the nail in the coffin for the Foxes’ chances of getting three points.

It’s very likely that Faes will leave in the summer given the previous interest in him and it is probably best for all parties that he is moved on.
