£35k-a-week star snubs Leicester in favour of European side – it’s a warning to Ruud van Nistelrooy

Leicester City fans are feeling a sense of panic for multiple reasons at the start of the January transfer window.

The Foxes have watched their relegation rivals add players to their squads, most notably Ipswich Town and Wolves, while Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side have failed to strengthen.

Van Nistelrooy has also seen a number of his targets reach an agreement or join other clubs, with Leicester target Abdukodir Khusanov agreeing personal terms with Man City.

Sadly, Khusanov isn’t the only player closing in on a move elsewhere after being linked with a move to the King Power Stadium as one full-back has snubbed the Foxes.

Leicester target Max Aarons has agreed to join Valencia

It’s become no secret that Leicester are eyeing full-backs on cut-price deals this month as James Justin’s form has been poor.

Justin was at fault for Aston Villa’s winning goal on Saturday, prompting mass amounts of anger from the fanbase who are fed up with the Englishman.

In an attempt to sign someone to become first-choice instead of him, Leicester have been linked with Kyle Walker-Peters from Southampton alongside Bournemouth’s Max Aarons.

While no update has emerged on their pursuit of Walker-Peters, it’s a different story for Leicester transfer target Aarons, who is on the verge of sealing a loan move to Valencia.

As per transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, the Spanish side have agreed a deal with Bournemouth for the £35k-a-week star, per Capology, inserting a €9m buy option in his contract.

Valencia, who are 19th in La Liga, have seemingly managed to persuade the 25-year-old to join them over Leicester, and that explains one thing to van Nistelrooy.

Leicester will find it hard to attract players in this transfer window

The allure of the Premier League is sometimes enough for a player to join a club but the Foxes’ current struggles – currently second from bottom in the table – demonstrate the difficulties of attracting players.

There is a high chance van Nistelrooy’s men are relegated this season, especially if Leicester are handed a point deduction for breaching PSR.

Indeed, being inside the division’s bottom three makes it hard to complete the signings they want, as often clubs higher up the table are showing an interest.

Leicester potentially missing out on Aarons, a right-back who couldn’t get in the side at Bournemouth, shows that even making unambitious moves isn’t easy.

Supporters will just hope that sooner rather than later they can start firing from all cylinders in the transfer window, otherwise, relegation looks nailed on.
