Leicester City fans have plenty of reasons to feel pessimistic about their side on and off the pitch.

While Leicester’s FA Cup tie against QPR will act as a distraction, it’s impossible to ignore their desperate position at the bottom of the table.

Ruud van Nistelrooy’s men find themselves in 19th place, two points adrift of safety after suffering five straight defeats.

The situation could be about to get worse for the Foxes, too, as Leicester are facing a points deduction for potentially breaking the Premier League’s spending rules.

Van Nistelrooy will find out by Tuesday, January 14th whether Leicester have breached PSR but the outcome doesn’t sound promising and it isn’t the only news that will anger supporters.

Leicester City’s latest transfer plans now revealed

The transfer window has been open for just over a week but the Premier League strugglers are still no closer to making their first signing.

Plenty of defensive targets have been eyed by Leicester along with some attacking stars, though it remains unclear which players the club are prioritising.

Fortunately, supporters have now been given a fresh insight into what the club’s budget looks like and the position(s) they’re targeting.

According to The Telegraph, while Leicester are still keen to offload Odsonne Edouard prematurely, the report also claims that van Nistelrooy won’t have a large budget to spend.

More alarmingly, though, the ‘priority signings’ at this stage are ‘cheap full-backs’, and that will worry large sections of the fanbase.

It’s good that Leicester have acknowledged the need to sign multiple full-backs however, only eyeing players for ‘cheap’ just makes it sound like they’re penny-pinching in fear of PSR.

The full-backs Leicester City have targeted

It’s become obvious throughout the season that van Nistelrooy needs to replace James Justin as his first-choice right-back.

Justin made a huge mistake in the loss to Aston Villa on Saturday, costing his side an invaluable point at Villa Park through his lack of concentration.

Victor Kristiansen has also seen his weaknesses exposed at left-back, which highlights the priority of signing a defender for both flanks.

As a result, Leicester have been linked with Kyle Walker-Peters, the Southampton star who sees his contract expire in June and can play on the right or left.

Bournemouth’s Max Aarons has also been eyed by Leicester, who would arguably be another upgrade on Justin at right-back.

It remains to be seen whether either of those players are on the transfer wishlist but time is ticking for the club to get business done.
