The Premier League has not charged any club for breaching PSR last season, with Leicester City being handed a lifeline.
It looked for all the world that Leicester would be handed a point deduction for breaking the rules, just like Nottingham Forest and Everton were last season.
However, the Premier League didn’t charge Leicester for breaching PSR on Tuesday, although an ongoing legal dispute with the league means the Foxes haven’t fully escaped without a punishment.
For now, though, there is reason to celebrate as Ruud van Nistelrooy’s men have been handed a boost in their chances of survival.
A points deduction would have put their hopes in jeopardy but the Foxes remain in 19th position ahead of their clash with Crystal Palace, and just two points from safety.

Leicester fans were unsurprisingly pleased with the PSR verdict but similar couldn’t be said for how the opposition supporters reacted to the news.

Premier League fans react after Leicester City avoid PSR breach
While no clubs were charged by the Premier League on Monday, this news was huge at the bottom of the Premier League.
There’s a heated battle going on with regards to relegation, and the likes of Everton, Crystal Palace, Ipswich Town and Wolves are all involved alongside Leicester.
After the Toffees and Forest faced deductions last term, fans from those clubs and other Premier League sides have now given their verdict on this update, and they’re unsurprisingly not happy.
“Their argument is promoted championship clubs are permitted to lose less money than Premier League clubs who have been in the league for over 3 years… By the same lawyer we employed,” one Nottingham Forest fan said.
“I thought it had already been established that they had breached. I’m just confused now,” another fan replied.
“Premier League once again making a mockery of their own rules,” a third pointed out.
“All PL sides should be banned from Europe until the FA grows a pair. If they all have to be punished then so be it,” a fifth said.
“The PL can’t punish Man City so the rest will benefit from the corruption,” one person pointed out Manchester City’s dispute with the Premier League over their 115 charges.
“Cheaters,” another supporter simply stated.

What Leicester City must do after avoiding PSR charge
Leicester avoiding a charge is excellent news, and whilst they could still be at risk of another punishment, it feels as though they can now focus on the challenge ahead without distractions.
Van Nistelrooy is plotting new signings this week, with Leicester close to announcing Woyo Coulibaly as their first.
The 25-year-old right-back, who will arrive from Serie A side Parma, will fix a problem position as James Justin has mostly struggled this term.
Coulibaly’s transfer should only be the start of their business, as the Foxes must nail the rest by signing a centre-back, winger and perhaps a new striker to rival Jamie Vardy.
Indeed, the level of success they have in the transfer window could determine whether they survive this term.
