All you need to know about incoming Leicester City signing Woyo Coulibaly

Leicester City are close to making their first signing of the transfer window as Woyo Coulibaly looks set to join.

The Foxes are yet to sign or sell in this transfer window so far and have seen several of their targets move on to other clubs instead.

Max Aarons opted to join Valencia on loan whilst there was also the possibility of signing Kyle Walker-Peters, but his asking price put off Leicester.

Coulibaly is expected to sign for £3m and will become the first addition of the Ruud van Nistelrooy era.

Woyo Coulibaly was born on 25 May 1999 in Gonesse, France.

At the time of writing, Coulibaly is 25-years-old.

Coulibaly stands at approximately 5ft and 9 inches tall (182cm) which will make him one of the smaller players in the team.

What position does Woyo Coulibaly play?

Typically, Coulibaly plays as a right-back but is also more than capable of playing on the other side of a back four or back three as a left-back too.

If in desperate need, he’d also be able to fill in as a right midfielder when needed.

Coulibaly is extremely versatile and displays that by being extremely confident with both his left and right foot. This helps to open up various angles when it comes to finding teammates and suits Van Nistelrooy’s style of play.

He is one of the best passers of the ball in Serie A, averaging a completion rate of 86.7 per cent, which puts him in the top 10 for full-backs.

Carrying the ball is also a huge part of his game with Coulibaly not afraid to take on the opposition and drive high up the pitch. He is able to accelerate to a fast pace, even when in possession.

Defensively, the 25-year-old is also reliable and will put his body on the line, averaging 1.58 blocks per game this season.

Coulibaly began his career at French outfit Le Havre, joining their youth ranks in 2012 before going on to make his professional debut on 2 August 2019 against Chamois Niortais.

He spent two seasons in the first time before joining Parma in August 2021 and has been at the Italian club ever since.

As for international football, Coulibaly is French but could also represent Mali if he chose to, however, he is yet to make an appearance for either nation internationally/
