Southampton goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has named one Leicester City player as someone he ‘hates playing against’.
Leicester City are currently locked in a battle to avoid relegation from the Premier League alongside Southampton.
Ruud van Nistelrooy’s men are one point clear of the bottom three while the Saints are rooted to the bottom on six points and threatening to break Derby’s all-time low tally of 11.
This weekend, Leicester travel to Everton, aiming to build on their shock 2-1 victory over Tottenham by winning at Goodison Park.

Southampton, on the other hand, head to relegation rivals Ipswich Town, with Van Nistelrooy hoping the South Coasters do his side a massive favour by clinching victory.

Aaron Ramsdale names Jamie Vardy as his toughest-ever opponent
Southampton are cut adrift in the battle to avoid relegation but some comments goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale once made about striker Jamie Vardy have now resurfaced.
When the Englishman was playing for Arsenal in 2022, he named the Leicester talisman as the toughest opponent he’s played against, snubbing the likes of Mohamed Salah, Harry Kane and Cristiano Ronaldo at the time.
Speaking on the Golf Life YouTube channel almost three years ago, Ramsdale said: “The one I hate playing against most is Jamie Vardy.
“The guy just doesn’t stop running. I’d love to have him on my team, hate playing against him.”
Vardy scored against Ramsdale the last time the two sides met in October as Leicester clinched a comeback win over Southampton.
The 38-year-old has proven to be a nemesis of Ramsdale’s over the years, with Vardy now on a mission of his own.

Leicester City face huge Vardy contract decision
Vardy has been an unbelievable servant to Leicester since he sealed a £1m transfer from Fleetwood Town in 2012.
He’s gone on to score over 100 goals in England’s top-flight, lifting the Premier League title and winning the FA Cup trophy.
But all good things must come to an end, and eventually, Leicester’s greatest-ever goalscorer will hang up his boots.
Vardy’s contract expires in the summer of 2025, and although it should be an easy decision to hand him a one-year deal, he is edging ever closer to 40.
| Premier League statistics | Jamie Vardy (2024/25) |
| Games | 21 |
| Goals | 7 |
| Assists | 3 |
| Big chances created | 4 |
| Shots per game | 1.9 |
| Goal conversion | 18% |
The above stats table suggests he’s still performing at a high level, returning a goal once every three games while creating chances for his teammates.
However, Leicester must look to the future and line up a long-term replacement for their talisman who will be sorely missed once he retires.
