Andy King and Jamie Vardy are two names synonymous with Leicester City over the years.

King and Vardy are modern day Leicester legends, with King winning the League One, Championship and Premier League with the Foxes, whilst Vardy is one of, if not, the greatest to wear the shirt.

The pair also played together for many years, with King saying Vardy is the best player he played alongside, despite lining up in midfield next to Esteban Cambiasso and N’Golo Kante.

One question on everyone’s lips over the years though is: ‘How on Earth do you stop Jamie Vardy?’

Luckily, King had the answer.

Andy King revealed how to stop Jamie Vardy in 2020

2020 was one of Vardy’s best years in a Leicester shirt.

Now 38, the striker was firing in goals left right, and centre in a season that would see the Foxes just miss out on the top four, but win the FA Cup for the first time in Leicester’s history.

Even the likes of Pep Guardiola couldn’t figure out how to stop him, but King revealed what his method of choice would be.

In an edition of Soccer AM’s teammates, King had one simple way to nullify the forward.

“Drop,” King said.

“Drop as deep as you can, as far as you can without going into your own net.

“Maybe try and play a three-at-the-back to get enough bodies into the channel and hold a deeper line so he hasn’t got the space to run into. But he’s adapted so much so he knows what he’s doing.”

Andy King’s Leicester career in numbers

King is now back at Leicester as a first-team coach, working under manager Ruud van Nistelrooy, but it will be his playing career at the Foxes he will be best remembered for.

The former Wales international made his senior debut for the club and was a mainstay in the XI from the League One days in the 2008/09 season all the way up to the great escape campaign in 2014/15.

He was also around for the famous title win, albeit with a reduced role, but his numbers speak for themselves.
