Leicester City fans have been given a reality check this season.

After storming to the Championship title in the 2023/24 campaign, this year has been difficult to say the least.

Saturday’s loss against Fulham was the seventh consecutive defeat in the Premier League and leaves the Foxes second from bottom.

Frustration turned to anger at the King Power Stadium as supporters were heard chanting “sack the board” whilst other Leicester fans made their feelings clear on Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Martin Keown admitted that Leicester could sack Van Nistelrooy but one former Premier League chairman has urged the club to rethink.

Simon Jordan says it’s too early for Leicester to sack Ruud van Nistelrooy

There’s no denying that Leicester made the right decision to sack Steve Cooper.

During his brief tenure there was a lack of team cohesion and players clearly weren’t interested in playing for the manager.

Results under Van Nistelrooy have hardly improved and if anything things have gotten worse in some respects as Cooper left the Foxes in 15th and now they sit 19th.

Outsiders believe that the Dutchman’s days are numbered but Simon Jordan has warned the Leicester fans that things won’t magically recover if they pull the trigger.

Speaking on TalkSPORT, he said: “You look at the results, and no wonder the Leicester fans are unhappy because they’re seeing him produce a side that gets beaten week in, week out at home, doesn’t score any goals. Now obviously they saw a midweek game against QPR where they bashed them up 6-2 in the FA Cup.

“But if you look at their recent form where they’ve got beat 3-0 at home by Wolves, they’ve got beat 2-0 at home by Man City, they’ve got beat 2-0 at home by Crystal Palace, they’ve got beaten 2-0 at home by Fulham. So they’re going to be unhappy, the same natives that were unhappy with various other managers Leicester have had.

“It’s too early. I mean, this squad isn’t good enough. They’re still in touch. They’re not out of touch. Despite all of this, they’re still only two points behind Wolves who’ve gone back into the mode of getting bashed up again. So they’re not out of touch.”

This comes only days after Jordan said he wanted Leicester relegated after they avoided PSR charges.

Majority of Leicester fans want Ruud van Nistelrooy to stay

Despite the moans and groans inside the King Power Stadium on Saturday, the majority are still backing Van Nistelrooy to turn things around.

A vote by Leicester fans showed they supported Van Nistelrooy and even if they did want the 48-year-old to leave, it would be very unlikely.

Leicester’s owners made it clear they couldn’t sack Van Nistelrooy during a conversation with the players after Cooper’s departure.

Financial concerns off the pitch mean the owners can’t afford to waste more expenses on chopping and changing managers.
