Gary Lineker is an optimistic Leicester City fan, but even he is struggling to find the positives right now.

Leicester were beaten by Fulham on Saturday to make it seven defeats in a row as fans voiced their concerns.

Boos started when Ruud van Nisterlooy substituted Bilal El Khannouss before the anger was then directed towards the owners.

Foxes fans chanted for John Rudkin to leave and there was also some who sang “Sack the board” in the latter stages of the game.

It’s not the first time Leicester have been involved in a relegation battle but this time is seems that hope is fading away and even Leicester legend Lineker is feeling the effects.

Gary Lineker’s brutal five-word assessment of Leicester City’s performance against Fulham

Lineker was hosting Match of the Day alongside Danny Murphy and Ashley Williams as they assessed the latest defeat at the King Power Stadium.

The loss means Leicester remain two points behind 17th placed Wolves having played a game more and could find themselves further adrift if the West Midlanders and Ipswich Town also win.

As the MOTD trio analysed the game, Lineker’s five-word statement summed it up. He said: “Leicester were poor, really poor.”

Murphy, in agreement, replied: “They were. They’ve actually gone four home games without scoring. That hasn’t happened since 1983 when a Mr Gary Lineker was playing.”

Thankfully, Lineker was able to find some glimmer of hope by reminding Foxes fans that they were able to stay up this season.

“We lost the first seven games of the season but stayed up. I think I scored 23,” he said.

Leicester won’t sack Ruud van Nistelrooy regardless of form

It’s no surprise to see that Leicester’s form has had some people wondering if they will pull the trigger on a second sacking in the season.

However, Leicester’s owners have made it clear that Van Nistelrooy won’t be sacked due to the Foxes’ financial woes.

Van Nistelrooy is expected to be in charge for the season regardless of what happens and even if some fans are beginning to turn on him, it looks as if he is here to stay and he must do his utmost to stop this slump and get the Foxes back on track.
