Three things we learned from Leicester City’s defeat vs Fulham as Foxes sleepwalk towards relegation

Seven games. Seven losses. That’s the harsh reality of Leicester City’s recent Premier League form.

The Foxes were beaten 2-0 by Fulham on Saturday to leave themselves marooned in the bottom three with no way out.

It was a copy and paste from the loss against Crystal Palace just three days earlier as Leicester showed some positive signs in the first half before conceding a soft goal early after the break and offering very little before Fulham put the result beyond doubt by doubling their lead.

With Wolves, Ipswich Town and Southampton all still to play this weekend, Leicester’s misery could be further compiled should they all pick up wins, in which case, Leicester will be in serious trouble.

There was plenty to take away from another sombre afternoon at the King Power Stadium so, with that, here’s three things Leicester City News learned from the weekend defeat.

Leicester City fan unrest is at an all-time high

Over the past few weeks, small sections of the Leicester crowd have become disgruntled at what they have seen, but on Saturday, it ramped up a notch.

Fulham’s first goal was met with small boos but it was when Ruud van Nistelrooy decided to substitute Bilal El Khannouss that things turned nasty.

Leicester fans booed the El Khannouss sub and followed that up with chants of “You don’t know what you’re doing” in the first real signs of fans turning on the manager.

Once the second goal went in, all anger was directed towards the Leicester owners and in particular, John Rudkin.

Foxes fans called for John Rudkin to be sacked whilst others could be heard chanting “sack the board”.

What was once a side who were viewed as the model to follow now couldn’t be any further from that if they tried.

Ruud van Nistelrooy looks defeated already

Van Nistelrooy is someone who knew nothing but success as a player, and even in his early days as a manager.

A relegation battle is uncharted territory and right now, he seems to be struggling to cope with it all.

After the game, Van Nistelrooy admitted Leicester deserved to lose against Fulham – a damning indictment and something that only wound fans up even more.

The Dutchman had a dejected look on his face in the latter stages of the game and must now be thinking ‘What on Earth have I got myself into?’

Leaving Facundo Buonanotte out of the starting XI was a questionable move, as was subbing El Khannouss so early, and it seems that whatever the 48-year-old does, it doesn’t pay off right now.

Leicester must make transfers before Tottenham game

What was most clear about watching the Foxes fall to another loss is how desperately they need new players.

Jamie Vardy disappointed for Leicester again whilst some of the others are quite simply not good enough.

Woyo Coulibaly joined the Foxes midweek but wasn’t named on the bench after only arriving two days before the game.

Andre Silva is reportedly being considered for a loan deal whilst there has been plenty of talk around wingers, centre-backs and even targeting a goalkeeper to help aid with Mads Hermansen’s absence.

A new player arriving can give fans a lift and also give the players one too. It may also see some of them step up and start performing knowing that their place is under threat.
