Lee Carsley has been touted as an option to replace Steve Cooper as Leicester City manager.

The Foxes have been linked with a plethora of new coaches after Leicester confirmed Steve Cooper’s sacking this past weekend.

The 46-year-old has left the King Power Stadium after just 12 Premier League games in charge with the club sitting 16th in the table.

With just one point separating them and 18th-place Ipswich Town, any incoming manager is going to have their work cut out.

We revealed in an exclusive update on Tuesday evening that Lee Carsley is being considered by Leicester.

Previously, after Cooper was dismissed on Sunday, former Fox Gary Lineker gave his support for Carsley.

Micah Richards agreed with Lineker, suggesting that it was ‘a great shout’ to appoint the former England manager.

Lee Carsley verdict on Leicester City midfielder Oliver Skipp

Carsley began his managerial career as caretaker boss of Coventry City in 2012 before spells with Brentford and Birmingham City.

The 50-year-old then joined England in 2020 and has since taken charge of their U20, U21 and senior side (interim).

During his time managing England’s U21s, Carsley worked alongside current Leicester star, Oliver Skipp.

Now, previous comments made by the Leicetser-linked man on Skipp from 2021 have re-emerged, as per Football London.

The former Young Lions boss gave a glowing review of the ‘underrated’ midfielder and tipped him for success.

He said: “I’ve known Oli for a while. He’s very underrated. He’s one of those players that when they are not in the team you notice them. He goes about his business really well. Works on his game. I think he’s still got a lot of development to do.

“He’s going to get better, he’s going to get stronger. Physically he’ll improve the older he gets. He has outstanding ability and I’m sure Tottenham see that as we have as well over the years.”

Why Oliver Skipp will start for Leicester City vs Brentford

Skipp made the move to Leicester during the 2024 summer transfer window, joining from Tottenham Hotspur.

The midfielder has had a mixed start to life in the Midlands, seeing his game time very mixed during Cooper’s stint.

However, the 24-year-old is expected to start, no matter who is in charge, when Leicester face Brentford this weekend.

This comes after Harry Winks was injured versus Chelsea on Saturday. Skipp replaced his former Spurs teammate after just 11 minutes against the Blues.

And with a timeframe for his return still not yet clear, Skipp will now likely come into the starting line-up in Winks’ place against the Bees.
