Leicester City have officially parted ways with two of Ruud van Nistelrooy’s coaching staff.

Van Nistelrooy has sporadically added to his coaching staff throughout his tenure so far, bringing in three names.

Jelle ten Rouwelaar was the first to join Leicester before Van Nistelrooy then appointed Brian Barry-Murphy as an assistant coach.

His most recent appointment was the decision to make Andy King a first-team coach in a move endorsed by all Leicester fans.

However, recent form has come at a price for two members of the coaching staff, who have departed with immediate effect.

Leicester City confirm departure of coaching duo brought to club by Steve Cooper

The Foxes are in a relegation dogfight and with no way of improving the playing squad, have to look elsewhere to see where things can change.

The Foxes’ coaching staff is one of those areas and two names have been removed in a bid to save their season.

First-team coach Ben Dawson and goalkeeping coach Danny Alcock have left the club. They both joined in the summer when former manager Steve Cooper confirmed them as part of his backroom staff.

However, the two have now left the King Power Stadium, with Leicester writing on the club’s website: “Leicester City has today parted company with First Team Coaches Ben Dawson and Danny Alcock.

“Both Ben and Danny joined the Club at the start of the 2024/25 season, serving under both Steve Cooper and Ruud van Nistelrooy, while also overseeing a brief spell in interim charge of the First Team squad.

“We place on record our thanks to Ben and Danny for their contribution and service and wish them both well in the next steps of their respective careers.”

Ruud van Nistelrooy is trying to change the culture at Leicester

The departure of Dawson and Alcock signifies a major change in culture at Leicester under Van Nistelrooy.

Despite claiming that he wouldn’t be making any wholesale changes to the Foxes’ coaching staff, three have come in and four have departed since Van Nistelrooy was appointed.

Dawson and Alcock both took charge against Brentford back in November, losing 4-1 in their only game in charge as interim managers but now, Leicester are looking to eradicate the last memories of the Cooper reign.

Andrew Hughes, Leicester’s set-piece coach is now the only one remaining at the club as the current Foxes manager finally begins to make radical changes.
