Leicester City midfielder Hamza Choudhury is the current longest-serving player in Ruud van Nistelrooy’s squad.
Choudhury joined the Leicester academy as an eight-year-old in 2005 and then made his way through the ranks before making his debut in September 2017, an EFL Cup win over Liverpool.
Since breaking into the first-team, the 27-year-old has spent most of it on the fringes, being used sporadically by most Leicester managers.
The combative midfielder has made 131 appearances for the Foxes in seven years, scoring just twice, and being loaned out on multiple occasions.
In January, Choudhury joined Sheffield United on loan for the remainder of the 2024/25 campaign. He’s since played an important role under Chris Wilder and also inadvertently made history.

Hamza Choudhury becomes the first Premier League player to represent Bangladesh
Choudhury has split opinion among the United fanbase since joining, with many either slating his performances or waxing lyrical.
But one thing is for sure, the midfielder is better suited to playing Championship football, having struggled to break into the side under Steve Cooper, and then Ruud van Nistelrooy.
Remarkably, despite leaving the club on loan two months ago, he’s now made history in English football.
Towards the end of last year, Choudhury changed his nationality to Bangladesh after previously representing England at under-21 level.
Now, after making his debut for the nation – an Asian Cup qualification clash against India on Tuesday, March 25th – Choudhury has become the first Premier League player to represent Bangladesh.
It’s a proud moment for the Leicester midfielder, who will hope to use his international exploits as a springboard to further his career.
