Leicester City sanctioned the exits of three players in the January transfer window, with each of them joining a Championship club.

Will Alves joined Cardiff City on loan, and the young winger has since impressed during his opening few months, despite recently suffering an injury.

Tom Cannon was also sold to Sheffield United for £10 million, while Hamza Choudhury joined the Blades on till the end of the campaign.

Choudhury was Man of the Match on his debut for United, as fans were left impressed by his combative presence in midfield.

But his performances haven’t all been positive, and in Tuesday nights draw against Bristol City, supporters tore into the Leicester City loanee.

Sheffield United criticise Hamza Choudhury against Bristol City

Sheffield United currently top the Championship table under Chris Wilder but only by a single point after dropping two against Bristol City.

Choudhury played the full ninety minutes as a defensive midfielder alongside Sydie Peck, and some fans weren’t impressed by his display.

“Choudhury and peck just walking about,” one fan wrote while another replied: “Peck & Choudhury need to step it up a level second half.”

“Peck doing the job of two men. Choudhury strolling around giving it big licks. Got zero desire to get forward and join an attack. Exactly the same at Luton,” a third pointed out.

“Midfield is being overrun because Choudhury is spending most his time stood next to the CBs, when he does step up he follows Peck like a lost puppy!” someone else exclaimed.

“Worst player on the pitch, you’re in the minority if you think otherwise,” a sixth offered a scathing review of Choudhury while a seventh commented: “I have to be honest I’m really not sold on Choudhury he can get a foot in but can’t play a pass more then 5 yards.”

Choudhury’s stats vs Bristol City

Choudhury has never been known for his ball-playing skills, as he’s more of an old-fashioned defensive midfielder, whose primary role is to win possession back and lend it to the more creative players.

Against the Robins on Tuesday night, the Bangladesh international completed plenty of work without possession but his quality on the ball was lacking, as shown by his statistics from the match.

Leicester fans are split on the future of Choudhury, with some feeling he should stay ahead of a potential Championship campaign, while others believe he isn’t good enough and should be sold.

Whatever happens, the 27-year-old is set for a decisive summer and it could see him leave the King Power Stadium permanently.
