Leicester City’s social media admins appeared to have the last laugh with a post shortly after the Foxes’ comeback win.

Steve Cooper’s side came from two goals down to win 3-2 at Southampton, with Jordan Ayew scoring a 97th-minute winner to make it back-to-back victories for the Blues.

Facundo Buonanotte was on the scoresheet for the Foxes first after Cameron Archer and Joel Aribo fired the hosts into a two-goal lead.

Jamie Vardy then equalised from the penalty spot, to make it 13 direct goal contributions against Southampton.

Ayew was then on hand to deliver the final blow, finding space in the box to squeeze the ball past Aaron Ramsdale and bring the three points back to the East Midlands.

Leicester City have the last laugh in late Southampton win

Social media admins are known for enjoying a joke or two and the opportunity wasn’t going to be missed by the Leicester team on X.

Shortly after Southampton had made it 2-0, the club account posted a picture of Ramsdale smiling alongside the caption ‘Us rn’.

As part of their bid to get the last laugh, the Leicester admin reposted the picture, this time with a smiling Vardy’ and the exact same caption.

Leicester City may have cost Russell Martin his job at Southampton

While Cooper and Leicester can breathe a sigh of relief and celebrate the three points, Russell Martin will be worrying about his job.

Defeat at St Mary’s means Southampton are still winless in the Premier League despite facing the two other newly promoted sides already.

Like Cooper at Leicester, Martin is experiencing backlash from supporters, who are demanding that results improve drastically and if they don’t, the first managerial sacking of the season may not be too far around the corner.
