Mads Hermansen is underperforming in one key stat, it will cost Leicester City their Premier League place

Mads Hermansen has had a difficult return to the Leicester City side since recovering from injury.

Hermansen was subbed off against Newcastle United and subsequently missed nearly two months of the season.

His absence coincided with an alarming drop off in form for Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side, who now have to rely on other clubs helping them out in order to save their season.

However, since the Leicester goalkeeper returned to the starting XI, things haven’t got much better.

The Danish youngster has conceded 12 goals in the past four games and the Foxes are now 19th in the Premier League table – five points behind Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Mads Hermansen sees alarming drop in save percentage since return

Whilst Hermansen has admitted that he and Leicester can improve already, it’s obvious where the 24-year-old must get better.

Since returning to the team, the ‘keeper’s save percentage has dropped by 26 per cent.

Before his spell out of the side, the saves made by the former Brondby man won the Foxes crucial points in games against Bournemouth, Southampton and Ipswich Town and he will need to return to his levels prior to injury to give he and his teammates a fighting chance of staying up.

Enzo Maresca’s latest comments could affect Leicester after he hinted that he was looking for a goalkeeper and with Hermansen a likely candidate to depart, a strong end to the season could add an extra few million onto his price tag.

Mads Hermansen calls for Leicester change

Everyone associated with the Foxes was disappointed with Friday night’s shambolic result against Brentford.

Just a little over 30 minutes had been played by the time the away side grabbed their third and a chorus of boos ringed round the King Power Stadium and it’s something Hermansen doesn’t want to be part of again.

“I don’t want to take that (the second half) as a positive,” Hermansen told the club website. “That’s too easy. To be in this league, we need to do so much more than that.

“We’re not getting any results at the moment. But we still have 12 games to play for the rest of the season and everything is still there for us, we’re still in it.

“But with performances like that, we have to realise we’re not going to make it. Some things need to change for the better.”
