Leicester City will face off with Brentford in a Premier League meeting on Saturday afternoon.

The Foxes won promotion back to the Premier League under Enzo Maresca before he left for Chelsea over the summer.

Maresca’s replacement lasted less than six months in the job, with Leicester City dismissing Steve Cooper on Sunday.

The 46-year-old’s last game in charge came against Chelsea. It was a dismal showing from his then-players, who probably could have conceded at least four or five on the day.

After losing to their former manager, Leicester have climbed even further down the Premier League table.

They face Brentford in a 3pm kick-off on Saturday and could well end the day in the relegation zone if they fall to defeat once more, sitting just one point above the bottom three as things stand.

Ruud van Nistelrooy will not take charge of Brentford vs Leicester City on Saturday but will be in attendance for the clash.

The Dutchman will be hoping for a positive result but Paul Merson has predicted Leicester to lose to Brentford over the weekend.

Ahead of the tie, Foxes coach Ben Dawson held Leicester’s pre-match press conference on Friday morning ahead of Van Nistelrooy’s arrival.

In the presser, Dawson shared his verdict on Leicester sacking Cooper, revealing what he did after he heard the news.

Elsewhere, the coach was asked if the Midlands outfit have a chance of staying in the Premier League this campaign and Van Nistelrooy will like his response, as per Leicestershire Live.

He said: “Absolutely [they can stay up]. I see them work every day. They’re good footballers. Yes, at times you need a little bit of luck. From what I see in terms of endeavour, it’s there.”

At present, Wolverhampton Wanderers occupy 17th place, Ipswich Town are 18th, Crystal Palace are 19th and Southampton are 20th.

The Saints are already six points adrift of the Foxes but there are just two points separating the remaining three teams.
