Leicester City could have a fight on their hands to keep young winger Jeremy Monga who is garnering interest from several big clubs.

Jeremy Monga is regarded as the brightest talent to emerge from Leicester’s academy in recent times, and the excitement surrounding his talent is unbelievable.

Despite being just 15-years-old, Monga has showcased his twinkle toes for the under-21s, appearing six times in Premier League 2 this term.

Having impressed in the academy, Ruud van Nistelrooy named Monga on the bench against Manchester United in the FA Cup and he’s trained with the first team alongside young striker Jake Evans.

It’s incredible to see someone so young break onto the scene and as a result, Chelsea are interested in Monga along with Barcelona, Manchester City and PSG, to name a few.

Supporters will worry that their brightest young star could depart before he signs a professional contract next year, but luckily, Van Nistelrooy has already made his feelings known about the winger.

Ruud van Nistelrooy wants to keep Jeremy Monga at Leicester City

Leicester watched midfielder Trey Nyoni sign for Liverpool in 2023, as the Reds stole him from right under their noses.

As Nyoni was 16 at the time, they were unable to tie him down to a professional contract and the temptation to move to Anfield was just too much for him to resist.

A similar scenario could unfold with Monga, who could leave the King Power Stadium before he commits his long-term future to the club.

However, the Leicester manager is keen to prevent that from unfolding, with Van Nistelrooy desperate to keep Monga.

Speaking in January, the Dutchman said: “Jeremy is a great talent that for me is a vital part of the future of this club. We’re looking to start conversations to keep him at the club. It’s important for me that that can work out. We’re planning that.

“We’re looking at his development, where he is now. He’s 15, he’s still in school, only on Thursdays is he available for training with us. So in that perspective, we have to see what’s best for him, and the pathway to the first team and senior football.”

Monga likened to Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior

There’s still a long way to go before Monga reaches his potential but the early signs are promising, as demonstrated by several huge clubs scouting him.

That being said, talent scout Jacek Kulig has offered a glowing report on the young winger, likening Monga to Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior.

He wrote: “His ability to accelerate in tight spaces and sprint past defenders makes him a constant threat on the wing.

“Very positive on the ball, unpredictable, and confident of his skills. Doesn’t hesitate to use his weaker left foot and is capable of dribbling, passing, and scoring comfortably with it.”

Monga has all the tools in his locker to become a world-beating talent but it’s important he keeps level headed and continues paying his football.
