Leicester City return to Premier League action on Friday evening against Brentford.

Ruud van Nistelrooy began his reign as Leicester City manager just a few weeks after the Foxes’ last meeting with Brentford.

The Midlands outfit were thumped 4-1 on that occasion as Van Nistelrooy watched on from the stands alongside Leicester’s owner.

Since taking over, the Dutchman has not fared any better, and has arguably performed worse than the man he replaced, Steve Cooper.

Leicester lost to Arsenal in their previous Premier League outing and results elsewhere meant they slipped down to 19th in the table thanks to goal difference.

What Leicester City manager Ruud van Nistelrooy can’t stop thinking about

Ahead of what is going to be a massive clash against Brentford, Van Nistelrooy spoke to the media on Wednesday.

The former Manchester United hitman discussed a number of topics in his presser, including a new role for Leicester legend Andy King.

Ruud was also drawn on the club’s battle for survival, going on to state he’s constantly thinking about how to keep Leicester up.

He said: “24/7 I am thinking about how to improve the team and help the club stay in the league.

“But I’m pragmatic enough to understand the position we’re in, and the maximum capabilities [of the team].

“We have to push ourselves to get the best possible result for the team.”

Leicester City team news update before Brentford

In the same presser, Van Nistelrooy provided an injury update on his Leicester side ahead of Brentford.

And it’s mixed news, or not if you ask some Leicester fans, as James Justin is a doubt for the meeting with the Bees but long-time absentee Ricardo Pereira is back in training.

On Justin, he said: “James Justin is a question mark for Friday’s game. He hasn’t been part of teaming training, difficult for him to make it.

“A question of weeks, not more.”
