Jannik Vestergaard’s absence from the Leicester City squad has been a mystery to all, and Steve Cooper has finally revealed why.
Vestergaard was a mainstay in the first-team squad as the Foxes won the Championship last season but hasn’t featured in the matchday squad for the past two games.
Caleb Okoli has been the preferred option but after failing to make the squad for the draw against Everton and Carabao Cup penalty shootout win against Walsall, speculation has intensified.

Steve Cooper provides Jannik Vestegaard update
Leicester face Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday and with concerns over the performances of Wout Faes, some fans have called for Vestergaard to be reinstated back into the starting XI.
Speaking after the Walsall win, the Foxes boss revealed that the Denmark international had been nursing an injury – which is why he hadn’t been in the matchday squads.
Cooper said on Wednesday: “Jannik’s been injured a little while. He’s done his ankle. He might be back on the grass later this week.”
Jannik Vestergaard could help solve Leicester City’s defensive frailties
The Foxes have conceded in every Premier League game so far this season and they have looked particularly vulnerable on the right-hand side of the pitch.
Of the eight goals Leicester have conceded, six have been on the side where James Justin and Faes play.
There have been calls from fans to include Ricardo Pereira as the first-choice right-back and Cooper may be enticed to also switch out Faes for Vestergaard.
Alternatively, he could pick the same formula that saw the East Midlanders return to the Premier League at the first attempt and drop Okoli, despite his strong start to life at the King Power Stadium.
