Although Leicester City lost again on Monday night, there was still something to cheer about.

Young star Jeremy Monga was finally given his chance in the first team as Ruud van Nistelrooy brought him on with 15 minutes to spare.

Monga became the second-youngest debutant in Premier League history, behind Ethan Nwaneri on a night that he will never forget.

For most Leicester fans, the 15-year-old’s debut was the only positive to take away from that night.

The Foxes also set all kinds of records at the King Power Stadium that night, including a very unique one.

Jamie Vardy and Jeremy Monga set new record

When the young winger came onto the pitch it was a tale of the old and the new.

Whilst the highly-rated prospect, who hasn’t even sat his GCSE’s yet, was taking his first steps in professional football, Jamie Vardy was showing signs of someone coming to the end of his career.

Aged 38, he is reaching the latter stages and sooner rather later, will hang up the boots.

15 and 38 is a huge gap anyway but according to Opta, the age difference of 22 years and 180 days is the biggest gap between two outfield players in Premier League history.

A remarkable achievement and a testament to both players for just how incredibly hard they’ve worked.

Things older than Jeremy Monga

Of course, seeing a player born in the year 2009 take to the pitch for the Foxes was joyous for some and alarming for others.

A player that young has seen plenty in the world, but there were some pretty big events that the Leicester academy star is younger than

For example, Federico Macheda’s infamous goal against Aston Villa… Monga hadn’t been born,

Others include Barack Obama becoming the US President, the Marvel Cinematic Universe and perhaps the biggest of all, the youngster was born two weeks after pop star Michael Jackson had died.

Simply crazy.
